Time to market is of vital importance to the competitive performance of a company. Chromaviso, who are experts in health promoting lighting solutions, commenced a collaboration with R&D because they lacked the in-house competences required to develop a new health technology. The synergy between Chromaviso’s product knowledge and R&D’s competences within construction and design produced new angles which optimised both the product and the process. Due to the reduced time to market, Chromaviso was able to enhance their competitive performance.

The collaboration with R&D enables us to employ competences which we are incapable of attaining internally. Consequently, we increase our internal level of competence and knowledge, which ensures additional perspectives on the project.

Employment of external expertise is the key to success

“The collaboration with R&D enables us to employ competences which we are incapable of attaining internally. Consequently, we increase our internal level of competence and knowledge, which ensures additional perspectives on the project. In this context, it has resulted in an efficiency improvement of the development process, which allows us to launch the product faster than expected,” Torben Skov Hansen says, Innovation Manager at Chromaviso. He continues; “The key to this successful result has been a close collaboration and an excellent knowledge exchange across different fields of competences.”

The project has been conducted by R&D’s department of Engineering & Automation where focus has centered around more than just the technical perspective of the project. It has been equally important to design the equipment so it reflects the value which Chromaviso wishes to sell.
“It is important to perceive the product as more than just engineering. By incorporating value creation in the development process, new optimisation potential arises and strengthens the business case in the final analysis,” Klaus Madsen says, Project Manager at R&D.

Circadian Lighting supports the daily life of patients

The health technology is a new type of Circadian Lighting which supports patients by means of different light settings. During a day, several critical situations require special lighting, such as a blue-free night light and light settings for therapeutic purposes.
The technology was originally sold to one care home but has afterwards been sold to 30 additional care homes in Denmark.
